RPM Club Ethos

The Rio Prestige RPM club has became the benchmark that others in the supercar industry measure themselves by. RPM continue to ensure that the innovative drive and enthusiasm which gave birth to such a club is both nurtured and encouraged in it's staff to guarantee continuity.

History shows that this club (since 2004) have continued to display the innovation and vision they have became noted for. They were not content with the fact that they became the worlds first hypercar club, chosing instead to raise the bar even further adding a brand new Spyker to their hypercar selection in 2007. The additions didn't stop there during 2008 they added the 1 million pound Bugatti Veyron. Both the Enzo Ferrari and a Ferrari F50 have been added this year, as RPM countinues to up the ante in 2009 and offer their membership what is considered by many to be the best private motoring club in Europe.

Why RIO? The story behind the name

In a recent conversation with the founder William Gray he set out clearly just how much the RIO Group of companies and private club means to him, in our talk he said something that impressed me and has stayed with me ever since, “if the person starting a company is truly serious about the venture they will have already put much though into the name given to the venture this would become paromont importance, after all, the effort required to establish a successful company would not be insignificant, It could be compared having children, it shouldn’t be a lighted hearted affair”. In our talk it became obvious for William this is and always will be a life long endeavour.

The name RIO was conceived by William almost fifteen years ago; it is important to note that he was intent on creating a brand name from the outset. Thus naming the company was even more crucial and became a very personal affair. William felt very strongly that the company name should represent exactly what the brand should stand for. Since the first entity incorperated was a private investment club, William simply derived the company name from what is considered to be the most important factor when investing money, the ROI. The aforementioned financial acronym meaning return on investment.

After all, a simple anagram of ROI which stands for what William intended to create all along, a real investment opportunity hence the name RIO was conceived. The name RIO today still holds true to its origins.

The RIO Crest

When a new company is incorporated it is standard practice to create a company logo, as always William was to set his venture apart from the rest at the very outset, perhaps this displayed one ingredient that bares wittness; the uniqueness which has made the RIO Group so successful. Since William is a passionate and driven individual with very strong moral standards coupled with the fact that he was born in Scotland, William felt that the only thing which would truly represent RIO and what it stands for would be a genuine coat of arms. The RIO coat of arms is in fact registered in Edinburgh; having been granted acceptance for registration by the Lord Lyon King of arms.

From the establishment of the RIO Club many years ago and to this day the RIO group of companies are consistent in their efforts to deliver excellence where possible. Surprisingly, when questioned on the corporate growth William comments "I have been unsuccessful in my opinion, I have made mistakes along the way which I feel has schooled me, but I havn't graduated from the school of life yet."

My take on this comment is that he feels that there's always more to learn and that's what makes it all so exciting.
